Privacy Policy

Last Updated: September 20, 2026 — Version 1.0.0

Your privacy matters to us. This policy explains what information the Wordication: Word Guess Party app collects, how it is used, and the choices you have.

1. Information We Collect

Anonymous Authentication. You may play Solo without creating an account. When you do, Firebase Anonymous Authentication assigns a random unique identifier (UID) to your device session — no name, email address, or any personal information is required or collected.

Authenticated Sign-In (Apple & Google). Duels, the leaderboard and a profile that follows you to a new device require an account. You may sign in using Sign in with Apple or Google Sign-In via Firebase Authentication. When you sign in this way, we receive from the provider and store the following information linked to your account:

We do not receive or store your password. Authentication is handled entirely by Apple or Google.

Nickname. When you create an account you choose a nickname. It is stored in our database and is publicly visible: to your duel opponents, on the leaderboard, and to everyone in a party you join or host. Please do not include personal information in your nickname.

Game Data. We store the progress attached to your account:

Leaderboard. The app has a public rating leaderboard showing the top 250 players by duel rating. If you qualify, your nickname, avatar, rating and number of games played are visible to everyone using the app.

Duels. Duels are played live against another player. While a match is running, your nickname, your typing activity, your wrong guesses, your score and your connection status are shared with your opponent so the match can be displayed. Live match data is stored temporarily in the Firebase Realtime Database and deleted shortly after the match ends; a summary of the finished match is archived as described above.

Party Games. You can host or join a private party of up to 8 players using a 6-character code. While a party is running, the nickname, ready state, guessing activity and score of every player are visible to everyone else at that table. Party rooms are temporary and are deleted after the game ends. Anyone who has the code can join, so only share it with people you want to play with.

Push Notifications. The app will request your permission to send push notifications. If you grant permission, we store a push token for your device and use it solely to tell you that an opponent has been found, that someone wants a rematch, or that a match you were in has finished. The daily reminder is scheduled on your device itself and is not sent from our servers. We do not send marketing messages and we do not share your push token with third parties. You can revoke this permission at any time in your device settings, or switch individual notifications off in the app.

Advertising Data. The app displays interstitial advertisements between games and optional rewarded advertisements that you can choose to watch in exchange for coins. Ads are served by Google AdMob and its mediation partners. These advertising partners may automatically collect certain information from your device in order to serve ads, including:

This data is collected directly by the advertising SDKs under each partner's own privacy policy and is not stored by us.

App Tracking Transparency (iOS). On iOS 14 and later, the app will present Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) prompt before accessing your device's advertising identifier (IDFA). If you grant permission, data from this app may be used to track you across apps and websites for targeted advertising purposes. If you deny permission, only non-personalized ads will be shown. You can update this choice at any time via Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.

Analytics. We use Firebase Analytics to understand how the app is used in aggregate — for example how many games are started, which screens are opened and where players drop off. These events are tied to an app-instance identifier, not to your email address or nickname.

Crash & Error Reporting. When the app crashes or hits an unexpected error, a diagnostic report is sent to Sentry. It contains technical information such as the error itself, the device model, the operating system version, the app version and the screen you were on. We use it only to fix bugs.

Abuse Prevention. The app uses Firebase App Check (App Attest on iOS, Play Integrity on Android) to confirm that requests come from a genuine copy of the app. This checks the app and the device, not you.

Data Stored on Your Device. Your settings, your cached profile, the current word list and your progress in an ongoing game are stored locally on your device so the app works offline and starts quickly. Uninstalling the app removes this local data.

2. How We Use Your Data

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for any purpose other than those listed above.

3. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services. Each processes data under its own privacy policy:

4. Where Your Data Is Stored

Our database, servers and game functions run in Google Cloud's europe-west1 region (Belgium). Our third-party providers are based in the United States and elsewhere and may process data outside your country under their own safeguards and privacy policies.

5. Advertising Choices

By default, personalized advertising may be served based on your advertising identifier. You have the following controls:

Opting out of personalized ads limits ad targeting but does not remove advertisements from the app.

6. Data Retention & Deletion

Guest (anonymous) players: Your progress is linked to your anonymous UID. If you uninstall the app, access to that anonymous account is lost. To request deletion of data associated with your anonymous UID, contact us and include your UID (visible in the app's settings).

Signed-in players — In-App Account Deletion: You can delete your account and all associated data directly from within the app at any time:

  1. Open the app and navigate to Profile → Delete account.
  2. Review the information about what will be deleted.
  3. Confirm deletion when prompted.

Deleting your account permanently removes the following data from our systems:

Records of finished duels and head-to-head totals are kept, because they are equally part of your opponents' history. After deletion they contain only an anonymous account identifier — no nickname, email address or profile — and archived matches are removed automatically 180 days after they were played.

Account deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. We will complete the deletion within 30 days of your request. Residual copies in automated backups will be purged within that same period.

Additionally:

Revoking provider access does not automatically delete your data from our database. Please use the in-app deletion feature above. If you experience any difficulty completing the deletion, contact us at contact@wordication.app.

7. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete the personal data we hold about you, and to object to or restrict its processing. You can delete everything yourself using the in-app deletion described above; for any other request, write to us at contact@wordication.app and we will respond within 30 days.

8. Children's Privacy

The app is not directed at children under 13. Guest players do not provide personal information. However, players who sign in with Apple or Google will have their email address stored by us. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13 (or under 16 where required by local law). If you believe a child has created an account, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last Updated" date at the top will reflect any changes. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
